Moth

Description:

For National Moth Week, a brown and black banded moth with some blue on the upper wings. The front pair of legs are extra long and hairy and are stretched forward when at rest. It has two lumpy patches of dark metallic scales on the upper abdomen. Body 1 cm long.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Notes:

This species has also been spotted farther south in the State of Chiapas in the Tropical forest of the Soconusco region at around 800 meters. (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/211...)
