Thanks for your comments guys. I have to say that there is a significant amount of people that do show a great interest in the local birdlife/wildlife here in Qatar. In fact bird watching/photography is a popular weekend hobby.

Unfortunately there is also a very small group of people that shoot birds for fun, this became all too apparent when we went to a different location to see flamingoes that now are quite scared of humans.

Gorgeous bird....in a place where people do not appreciate or as you implied not important....very sad...

I agree Ali, and I see you have many spottings from Iran - which means you probably have a lot of the same species around your neighbourhood too!
