Canyon Rubyspot

Hetaerina vulnerata

Description:

According to the biologists I was traveling with (National Park Service) this damselfly is endemic to the Colorado River/Grand Canyon area. I found it in Shinomu Creek. It's probably 2 inches in length, and black-bodied with some red on wings. Spends time very close to creek.

Habitat:

Shinumo Creek, which feeds into Colorado River.
