Phrygionis privignaria
I had a feeling this gorgeous Moth was a Day Moth, you could scrape the gold dots on it's body to male a necklace, it was thick, it also had lines of blue, it looked more white/beige in the wings than the yellow it shows in the picture, it also had 2 red dots with gold at the end of the wings and green eyes.
Showed up in the afternoon was very inactive until the next morning.
You are so kind bayucca, thank you so much for all the work you do to get an ID, I will edit it as you said. : )
Indeed very similar to Phrygionis paradoxata. To my knowledge it is indeed also reported from Costa Rica, but has more reddish and stronger markings. If you do not feel comfortable you take Phrygionis cf. privignaria as scientific ID and I will once try to get a confirmation.
bayucca....WOW!! I am overwhelm by all the information.
What is the difference between: Phrygionis privignaria and Phrygionis paradoxata they (to my untrained eyes) look exactly the same.. : o
Thank you so much, VivBraznell, that is exactly what I said when I saw it!! : )
Geometridae, Ennominae, Phrygionis privignaria.
