Bison bison
American Bison (AKA: American Buffalo) spotted in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, Oklahoma. This large fellow walked up to the side of the road and stared us down for about a minute before crossing to the other side.
Grasslands of the American Midwest, most frequently occurring on protected lands like here at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Preserve, OK. Other great places to view bison (from my experiences) are: Yellowstone National Park, WY; Grand Tetons National Park, WY; and Great Sand Dunes National Park, CO.
