Black and Yellow Argiope

Argiope aurantia

Description:

Approximately 1.25 inches long. Abdomen is black with yellow markings. Cephalothorax has silver-white hairs. Legs are ‘gold’ with black bands. Underside is black with central yellow band from front to back on underside of thorax and two yellow latero-ventral bands running from thorax to the spinnerets.

Habitat:

In Buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) at edge of reservoir.
