Congratulations sunnyjosej, your beautiful Potter Wasp has been voted Spotting of the Week!

"Our Spotting of the Week is a beautiful Potter Wasp (Delta pyriforme pyriforme)! Potter wasps belong to the Eumeninae (potter and mason wasps), a cosmopolitan group of wasps currently treated as a subfamily of Vespidae. Eumeninae are the most diverse wasp subfamily, with more than 200 genera. Here the wasp is seen making her pot-shaped mud nest before depositing a stung and paralyzed caterpillar inside on which she will lay an egg".

Oh, I forgot, Dr. Krishna Mohan confirmed Delta pyriforme pyriforme for the link in the suggestion. And Josef, I am sure :-)

To make it short:
Important markings are the color of the segments behind the head (only one yellow), head colors and markings, abdomen with black band and yellow end, upper part brownish, no other markings, no yellow and black markings between abdomen and thorax. No scientific approach, just my eyes, I am still not really into wasps, though...

Please, also add pyriforme as subspecies, since this is important for your location and separating from other subspecies. Delta pyriforme pyriforme. Thanks.

Beautiful shots Sunny! Great work on the ID bayucca! Can you point to any clear identification criteria available online? The page you're linking to refers back onto a Project Noah spotting with some doubts on the exact species...

Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
