Description:

Caterpillar is the larvae of the monarch butterfly. It has a banding pattern of white, yellow and black transverse bands.

Habitat:

It is usually found in open meadows, prairies, grasslands where there are milkweed plants. Monarch caterpillar eats only milkweed leaves.

Notes:

Spotted at the Tamarac visitor center on a milkweed plant.
