Wood Frog

Lithobates sylvaticus

Description:

2 inch palm-sized frog with dark patch over its eyes and two big ridges running down its back.

Habitat:

Wood frogs live in forested areas in northern Minnesota. They can be found under leaves, logs and rocks away from water or ponds.

Notes:

About 7 wood frogs were spotted in Tamarac NWR, along a wooded path off north Cotton Lake road, nearby was a marsh area.
