American Bumble Bee

Bombus pennsylvanicus

Description:

It was very windy today, so none of my photos came out clear. The iconic yellow and black, American Bumble Bee, is a classic summertime friend. At 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon, I looked through the right front window, and I saw a large, yellow and black bumble bee, resting on some purple flowers, and swaying back and forth, with the wind. Bumble Bee: A large hairy bee, with a loud hum, living in small colonies, in holes underground. Order: Hymenoptera Family: Apidae.

Habitat:

Bumble Bees, depend almost on flowers, for there food. It is therefore unsurprising, that the best habitats for bumble bees, are those that offer plenty of flowers to feed, during the entire active phase of a bee's lifecycle, ( from spring until late summer ). Bumble Bee's, are typically found in temperate climates. Bumble Bee's, are found in open farmlands and fields, in its range.

Notes:

I spotted this large, yellow and black bumble bee, resting on some purple flowers, while swaying back and forth with the wind. These purple flowers, are in my front yard.
