Shield-bug

Carpocoris sp

Description:

This shield-bug is a bit short of 15mm in total length; with reddish-brown body color. The pronotum angles are black, the tip of scutellum more yellow-orange. It also sports black antennae and orange legs.

Habitat:

Seen on a vegetation close to stream near an agricultural field; the field itself adjoining the marshes of Mategnin-les-Fontaines; on Franco-Swiss border, suburbs of Geneva.

Notes:

The species of this genus may be difficult to differentiate; reportedly each species can show a variety of colors, and other characteristics may be rather similar. Here, I thought of C. pudicus, C. purpureipennis, C. fuscispinus and C. mediterraneus; to me it looks most like the latest (C. mediterraneus) but the range does not fit...
