Baird's Sandpiper

Calidris bairdii

Habitat:

Recharge Basin

Notes:

This was an excellent species to find here at the Glendale Recharge Ponds. Tommy DeBardeleben, one of Arizona's most distinguished birders, pointed it out to me. They are larger than a Western Sandpiper and also have a considerably long primary projection as seen in the second photo.
