Long-billed Dowitchers

Limnodromus scolopaceus

Habitat:

Shallows at a riparian preserve

Notes:

These are medium-sized shorebirds with fantastically long bills. They use their bills to feed by probing the mud. Lifer for me! These were photographed at the Riparian Preserve at Gilbert Water Ranch.

Thanks Mark! The Summer (hot as it is here) has been really good. I have had more opportunities to get out and spend time in nature. Lately my Dad has been taking me out owl watching once a week. Had some success last night!
