Description:

This little fledgling was sitting on my front window. Bright colours, and strong wings. Unlike most Wookpeckers, the Northern Flicker spends most of its time on the ground, searching for ants and other insects.

Habitat:

Breeding: open deciduous, mixed coniferous woodlands and forest edges. Winter: coastal vegetation, offshore islands and urban gardens.
