Lady Beetle

Axion plagiatum

Description:

Black beetle with a large orange spot on each elytra. Similar to Chilocorus genus but the flared out rim of the elytra and the location of the spots towards the front show this is A. plagiatum.

Habitat:

Side of house in backyard oak woodland. Found in the southern US states and into Mexico.

This is Axion plagiatum. Chilocorus are distinguished by the positioning of the markings as well as the shape of the beetle. Great pics.
