Budgerigar (male)

Description:

This beautiful specimen is a male. This is determined by the cere (the area containing the nostrils) being royal blue - which is different to the females which is brown (breeding) and a much lighter blue otherwise. Budgerigars are naturally green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on the nape, back, and wings. However, in captivity they are bred with other colourings like blue, white, grey.

Habitat:

In the trees along the bank of the De Grey River at the De Grey River rest stop, there were quite a number of pairs at the entrances of their nests (hollows in the trees).
