Tuberous herbaceous perennial growing to 50 cm, and producing dense 20 cm spikes of purple flowers in spring.

Habitat:

Spotted at a small prairie in a dispersed oak forest (Quercus pyrenaica). Reserva de la Biosfera Real Sitio de San Ildefonso-El Espinar
