Gray Wolf

Description:

The gray wolf or grey wolf (Canis lupus) also known as the timber wolf, or western wolf, is a canid native to the wilderness and remote areas of North America and Eurasia. It is the largest extant member of its family, with males averaging 43–45 kg (95–99 lb), and females 36–38.5 kg (79–85 lb). ~Wikipedia Most of these were all young wolves 1-2 years old. The Alpha male and female were around 8 years old. They ranged in size from about 45 pounds up to 90 pounds.

Habitat:

Bays Mountain Park has a captive pack of 10 gray wolves in a large set of connecting pens that can be opened for all or closed into 3 to separate for feeding and care. While they have been socialized as puppies to not fear humans since they are on exhibit, they are still very much wild animals.
