Description:

Female. Round-headed woodpecker approximately 8 inches long. Pale gray head with red blaze near beak and on back of head. (Red blaze on the male is continuous from the beak to the back of the head). Beak, black.. Belly, pale gray. Barred gray-black/white wings and back. Upper tail coverts, white. Tail feathers, black.

Habitat:

Lives in mixed hardwood/pine woods.

Notes:

This female was caught in house and released.
