Cream Striped Owl Moth

Cyligramma latona

Description:

Small brown moth, wings and body dark brown, 5-6cm across with wings open in this instance, not very obvious with wings closed, but open has a very strong cream stripe from the tail of the body out towards the tip of the wing, and a small bar sitting at right angle at the end of this stripe. But most distinctive is the 'eye' on the top middle of the wings, the design is such it really looks like a 3d shining eye.

Habitat:

Seen in the hallways of a local hospital.

Notes:

awesome eye!
