Pseudalmenus chlorinda zephyrus
A small, fast butterfly which I first mistook for a 'grass dart' (Hesperiidae) in flight. About 28mm wingspan. Nice red submarginal area with light through.
On Acacia dealbata in a local nature reserve.
Awful photos but a placeholder until better is achieved. These are found only in small pockets around the state of Victoria so I was pleased it appeared so close by.
Conservation status 'vulnerable'
They have evolved a relationship with a particular venomous ant - Anonychomyrma biconvexa http://www.antweb.org/specimenImages.do?...
family: LYCAENIDAE
subfamily: THECLINAE
tribe: Zesiusini

I would love to see that one. I like hairstreaks a lot.
