Description:

An imperfect form, shaped like a cushion up to 10 cm across, white browning with age. The surface is hairy and the interior brown to ochraceus. Soft and juicy when young, crumbling with age. Like a puffball.

Habitat:

Saprobic on decayed conifer wood especially stumps, occasionally found on heathland on the roots of living Calluna.
