Trombidiid Mite

Description:

A striking hairy little mite in the Family Trombidiidae, about 3 mm long in the body and brightly patterned in yellow red and black. He has large red eyes.

Habitat:

I found him in the kitchen. These are predators and move very fast. I had to refrigerate him for a few minutes to get him to hold still. San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
