Description:

Perennial plant, up to 60 cm tall, with very characteristic bluish-green colour. Basal leaves petiolate, leathery, ovate, strongly armed with spines. Cauline leaves without petioles, similar to the previous ones. Small, blue flowers in dense subspheric umbels, 2 cm in diameter, protected by spiny bracts. Fruit achene type.

Sand dunes.
