Description:

It measures 80 cm long, 61 cm high, 170 cm wingspan and weighs 3.2 kg. It is black in color, with white belly. His feet seem deformed, because the fingers are huge. The head has a horny spicule with 12 cm long. Its defense two huge spurs on his shoulders.

Habitat:

It is a typical Amazon bird, present in almost the entire region, also reaching the interior of the states of Ceará, Bahia, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso (Pantanal), São Paulo and Paraná. Found also in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. This bird inhabits wetlands, lagoons borders and rivers with forested banks or undergrowth. Lives to couples and family groups.
