Mottled Emigrant

Catopsilia pyranthe

Habitat:

Bushes between paddy fields and River Jaldhaka. Very hot place.

Notes:

I spotted these couping Emigrants by a paddy field and the bank of River Jaldhaka near Hila Tea Estate in Nagarkata, Alipurduar, West Bengal. The River runs southwards dividing India and Bhutan. How I managed to spot this couple well hidden under a bunch of branches and leaves was due to my curiosity: an Emigrant - something like this male in the spotting - was coming to this bush, hitting at the branches and flying away! On closer look, underneath the bush was this couple! I managed to clear away some of the over-hangings.

Thanks Nuwan for the ID and the ref. From the ref I learnt, and now I infer that the one clinging on to the leaf is the male and the one with darker and more defined markings which is hanging is the female! Pl correct me.
