Prairie Fleabane

Erigeron strigosus

Description:

The genus Erigeron are herbaceous plants in the daisy family. The Erigeron strigosus is commonly known as prairie fleabane, common eastern fleabane, or daisy fleabane. Prairie fleabane are spindly plants with oval shapes leaves. Oval shaped petals, in colors of either white, pink or blue, are arranged around a center yellow disc. These plants are pollinated by a wide variety of insects such as bees, flies and sometimes wasps.

Habitat:

The prairie fleabane is native to eastern and central North America but has also spread further out west and has been introduced to Europe and China as a naturalized species.

Notes:

I found these wildflowers at the foot of a grassy hill taking in the full brunt of a late spring sun without so much as a single one withering, true sun children they are.
