Description:

Common Names: Tropical Milkweed, Mexican Butterfly Weed, Blood-flower, Scarlet Milkweed. Milkweed native to American tropics. Zones 8 - 12. Height: 18 - 36 inches. Width: 18 - 24 inches. Bloom color: Orange-red with yellow corona. Attracts: Bees, butterflies and other insects. Host Plant to: The Monarch butterfly, Queen butterfly & Soldier butterfly.

Habitat:

Light: Full Sun. Water: Average - Dry. Uses: Native gardens, butterfly gardens, native restoration.

Notes:

A small patch observed growing wild along the El Tuito River.
