Tagiades sp.
A largish dark brown and white spread-winged skipper, one of the snow flats. Never before observed at this location over 5 years. Tagiades nestus or T. trebellius.
Spotted on Brazilian button flowers (Centratherum punctatum) in a large semi-urban yard & garden situated next to a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest.

The hyaline patterns of T. nestus, T. trebellius and T. japetus are so close indeed! They are lovely skippers, especially when they're flying. I would love to see them again this year. :)
Thanks Agnes. Although Tagiades japetus is one possibility based on range, I think it is either T. nestus or T. trebellius.
