Laphria telecles
This fly was about 18 mm and appeared totally black except for the basal part of the hind femora which was a bright orange. The anterior part of the thorax seemed to have a white marking radiating from the middle on either side. Calypters appeared yellow. the eyes reflected a deep teal colour. I could just see small white spots along the lateral aspect of the abdomen. Short bristles covered the legs.
Spotted resting on Gahnia ( native grass) in a nature reserve.
