Desert Cottontail

Sylvilagus audubonii

Description:

These rabbits have a white, rounded tail which gives them their name. Its fur is a light grayish brown with a white belly. Adults are 33 to 43 cm (13 to 17 in) long and weigh up to 1.5 kg (3.3 lb). This looks like a young rabbit to me.

Habitat:

Unlike the eastern cottontail, the desert cottontail generally lives in arid grasslands and makes use of burrows.
