Dark Fishing Spider

Dolomedes tenebrosus

Description:

Very large spider sunning itself (or maybe lying in wait) on a stump on the side of a wooded trail. After I poked the stump near it, it sprang up into the second position.

Habitat:

Wooded forest in the piedmont region of SC.

Notes:

I think this might be dolomedes tenebrosus. Need confirmation.
