Deinopis subrufa

Description:

A long-legged slow moving spider with a span of 24 mm. Legs spread out from the body which is elevated above the ground. This male had large palps and a pair of forward-pointing eyes. The colouring was a reddish brown which gives it its name "subrufa".

Habitat:

Spotted on a garden wall. These spiders hunt at night when they are easy to spot. This species is seen in arid areas.

Notes:

Refer to the web reference link for shots of the amazing posterior-pointing eyes. ( not seen in my spotting, unfortunately).
Family: Deinopidae
