Philodendron

Philodendron rubrum

Description:

The red, pointy bud-like structure drew my attention. This plant has large, lobed and smooth leaves.

Habitat:

Seen in the tropical rainforest of Akaka Falls State Park, where the annual rainfall is very high. The plant was also spotted in moderate shade, where it virtually grows in a stream. Prefers tropical climates.

Notes:

Invasive in HI.
