Ant mimic weevil

Rhynolaccus spp.

Description:

Tiny, shiny and black. One of the smallest (and cutest) weevils I've found so far at about 3mm long.

Habitat:

On fine leaved acacia (maybe A dealbata) in a small nature reserve.

Notes:

The Australian faunal directory has this as synonymous with Myrmacicelus

Not more than usual Lauren. Interestingly we don't have many small black shiny ants in Australia. They are generally brown/red. The standard 'Argentinean ant' is taking over the continent though.
