tailless whip scorpion

Heterophrynus sp

Description:

These spiders seem to want to be everything...they have eight legs but seem to walk sideways on only six like a crab, they have pincered pediphalps like a scorpion and use two of their legs like whips, one out to the front and one out to the side feeling for prey as their eyesight is fairly poor. They are mostly nocturnal an prefer humid environments.

Habitat:

Seen on anight walk in the grounds of Asa wright's nature centre Trinidad.
