Spotting

Description:

These are what I as a kid growing up always called "Puff mushrooms" when stepped on or poked they emit their spores into the air in little puffs of smoke that come out of the hole in the top. I just have no idea what they are really called.

Habitat:

dead log with lots of moss and lichens

Bovista aestivalis grows from the ground. I'm not 100% sure on M. pyriformis, but I know that Morganella species grow from Logs.
