4 antenna sawfly

Schizocerella pilicornis

Description:

Tiny sawfly (7mm long?) with apparently 4 antennae. Found resting on Kangaroo Apple (Solanum spp).

Habitat:

In a tiny nature reserve with a creek running through.

Notes:

Called Portulaca Sawfly here and Purslane Sawfly in US these were introduced into Australia to control Portulaca. The family (Argidae) is very poorly represented in this country with 12 described species, 4 introduced.
