Western Diamondback Rattlesnake

Crotalus atrox

Description:

Large rattlesnake species common throughout the state of Texas and much of the southwestern states. C atrox is distinguished by its diamond shaped back pattern, and having black and white banding on its rattled tail. These bands are often close to symmetrical with one another, unlike the Mojave who's bands will tend to be the majority white in terms of width.
