Just had a good look around and I think you should remove the 'likely' in the scientific name. It looks a perfectly good ID to me. IF you have doubts You could put that in the 'notes' area.

Good luck with that Mark.
I was not thinking of it being of general interest Daniele. I was just hoping for an ID and they seem to be quite common.
All these were from the recent trip Pam. This one was on the bamboo forest day near the eggs of the lime butterfly we saw there.

Les, your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!

Oh well I'll get back there one day I hope and be more prepared. They really looked like they were dipped in molten metal even antennae and legs.

Sorry Mark. I like many insects but did not really take any notice of ants. It was also wet much of the time I was there which probably is not good conditions for seeing ants.

Nice bug Les. You didn't see any all-gold ants around Periyar or all-copper ones near Thekkady I suppose??

Thanks Les... We had an AWFUL lot of water, but not flooded, although I had a little stream running through the garden and it is still muddy and slooshy underfoot in some places. Problem is, with that much rain one has to start again with the soil (which was initially very bad) as everything gets washed out of it ! Luckily there are cows in the compound, and composted manure, so not so difficult, just physical work.
Have English friends here who's son's house has 2 feet of water in it. But there is "NO climate Change", so everything is OK !!!

I hope you weren't involved in the awful floods in Madras earlier. We have had fairly bad floods in Britain, but not around here.

They are both Chrysocoris stolli, that's why ! it's just that there are several common names. take your pick ! Green Jewel Bug seems to be an aptly description name though...

I did think it looked like a shieldbug but can not tell the difference between your one and some of the photos of Chrysocoris stolli.

Hello Les Catchick and Welcome to the Project Noah community! We hope you like the website as much as we do. There are many aspects to the site and community. The best way to get started is to read the FAQs at http://www.projectnoah.org/faq where you can find all the tips, advice and "rules" of Project Noah. You, like the rest of the community, will be able to suggest IDs for species that you know (but that have not been identified), and make useful or encouraging comments on other users' spottings (and they on yours). There are also "missions" you can join and add spottings to. See http://www.projectnoah.org/missions Note that most missions are "local". Be sure not to add a spotting to a mission that was outside of mission boundaries or theme :) Each mission has a map you may consult showing its range. We also maintain a blog archive http://blog.projectnoah.org/ where we have posted previous articles from specialists from different geographical areas and categories of spottings, as well as wildlife "adventures".
So enjoy yourself, share, communicate, learn. See you around :)

It is just a suggestion; I am no entomologist either ...try going to images on Google when you search and use the ull binomial name when you are fully convinced. likely is not good enough and PN's computers will be confused too :) . Rather go with Chrysocoris sp. That way the genus name is correct and species name remains to be clarified. Good luck.

Looking more you may well be correct as some do seem to look very like mine. Thanks.

Thanks Sukanya.
It looks related but not the same to me. I have little knowledge of such creatures but will see if I can find something close using than name.
