A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Felis silvestris catus
Urban and suburban settings. This particular colony is in Miami Beach between the hotels and the beach dunes.
There seems to be a colony of feral "beach" cats in this area. None of the ones I encountered were approachable. Most were grey or grey and white. I did see a Siamese among them which acted feral as well. The photos are of a few individuals of the colony taken the same afternoon. I wasn't sure I would post them as I didn't know if they would go under pet or mammals and because they are not all one individual. However I decided to post it this way because I noticed a small mystery that doesn't seem to be the result of random fighting. Many of the cats I saw were missing the tip of the left ear. Thoughts?

Good to see their ears tipped!
Never mind a quick search and mystery solved... This from "Trap-Neuter-Return" program of Miami-Dade County:
"Once the community cat is caught, the resident must take the trapped community cat to the Pet Adoption and Protection Center. Animal Services does not pick up cats in traps.
The cat is then sterilized and receives its rabies vaccine and feline booster shot. A small portion, 1 cm., of the tip of the left ear is removed to provide visual confirmation that they have been sterilized and Animal Services returns the cat to their community."
