There are many, many types of slime mold (as you no doubt found out by looking at the mission here). Often they cannot be completely identified without a microscope (true with many fungi). They are amazing creatures--love how they move!--but often hard to spot. Congrats on this spotting.

Hm...not sure, aren't they more round? I have totally no experience with this kind of fungus....
