American Kestrel

Description:

Though rather common, American Kestrel are a strikingly beautiful small falcon. This individual is a female. I saw several Kestrels during my visit to the Bosque del Apache wetlands in New Mexico.

Habitat:

Wetlands wildlife refuge, along the Rio Grande in New Mexico.
