Description:

The Nilgiri Tahr is listed on the IUCN Red List as endangered. Endemic to the Western Ghats, formerly they were found in large herds roaming the slopes but hunting and habitat loss have reduced their numbers drastically.

Habitat:

They inhabit the shrinking shola grasslands, dotted with stands of stunted shrubs.
