Common shelduck

Tadorna tadorna

Description:

Occasional visitors of one of the ponds in Doode Bemde, a couple of shelducks. Male on the left. You can see the different form of the beak. These ducks are usually afraid of people. This couple never came closer than around 15 m, even though we were inside a hut to see them. Not only they are colorful on top but you can also appreciate their colorful butt as well, in one of the pics :-)

Habitat:

Lakes of Doode Bemde, Belgium.
