Cane Toad, Giant Neotropical Toad, Marine Toad

Rhinella marina

Description:

This toad was nearly 6" long, and actually rather pretty with red and dark brown markings on a rich brown background. It has been imported to other countries where it has gotten a terrible reputation for being invasive and killing off native species of frogs, toads, birds, etc..

Habitat:

It was spotted at night, hopping up the steep bank near the Amazon River.
