Clamator glandarius
Several of these have turned up this year for the annual battle with the resident Magpies. While the males are busy drawing the Magpies away from their nests the females sneak in and lay their eggs. These Cuckoos may then move on or may stay but in summer they will depart for Africa leaving the Magpies to raise their chicks which will follow later in the year.
Scrub and tree-covered limestone mountain surrounded by orchards.
