Arilus cristatus
This type of bug is in the classification of 'True Bug' and is in the family of stink bugs, squash bugs, and leaf bugs. This is a species of Assassin Bug. They will hunt almost anything they can get a hold of in terms of meat and will stab it's prey to death with it's long proboscis that is made for piercing and sucking. They can be harmful to humans miss handled or provoked. They are the largest species of Assassin Bugs in North America. The name Wheel Bug comes from the large round saw blade shaped protrusion on it's back. They also hunt by the light of day.
