Coconut Palm

Cocos nucifera

Habitat:

Thrives on sandy soils and is highly tolerant of salinity. It prefers areas with abundant sunlight and regular rainfall , which makes colonizing shorelines of the tropics relatively straightforward. Now also grown elsewhere as a crop.

Notes:

A very nice grove of them grows along this beach, giving the area an extra tropical feel.
