A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
This one may be a combination of a small white mushroom growing in a larger bracket-type fungus -- but it looked like a single entitiy to me. It was two or three inches across if I remember correctly, and was growing on the top side of a fallen tree.
The surroundings were fairly open forest with lots of walking palms and monkey vines, on a ridge above the Pacific Ocean on the Osa Peninsula.
I have never seen anything like this, so if anyone says it couldn't happen, it's just two species that happened to grow in the same place, I'm good with that. But I'd sure like to know what it is!
